A short post today:

I’ve long felt that sometime in March was the beginning of the year for me, the new year of sorts.  Each culture has their own interpretation of when the new year occurs – Gregorian users set it on January 1st, Wiccans on the 31st of October, etc.  For years I always felt like the Spring represented the new year, with the aspects of renewal and growth representing the restarting of the life of the world.

Today I realized I’m also internalizing the Roman calendar, which set the new year on the Kalends of March.  March 1st.

Damn but I do love Roman history.  And it is always amusing how I keep coming back to that, even unknowingly.

Happy new year!
