Chill gusts
Buffeting the land’s soul
Driven from the north
pounding and shrieking
cacophonous scouring
a freezing embrace.
Frost wights
Snow drifts
dance across the fields
mocking and heartless
hearth fire a faint
distant memory.
A glittering light
so very distant
much further
feeble
home so very
impossibly far.
